One of the great things about living in a town with a military base is the strong sense of pride for our country, the freedom we enjoy and especially the servicemen that make our freedom possible.

The other day Kason and I were at the Post Office and there were two gentlemen in front of us. One of them was obviously a soldier, with his hair cut and his manuerisms. The other one ended up being the father of a soldier who was serving in Iraq as a scouter.

I listened to them talk about his son; this was his second tour in Iraq and he had been serving our country for 6 years. His tour would most likely be brought home early only to be prepped again and sent back out to Kuwait or some other country.

I held my little boy in my arms and tears came to my eyes. I wanted to applaud this father who has sent his son to Iraq, not once but two times, to fight for our country. I wanted to thank him for allowing his son to defend our freedom. I felt like he deserved the world.

How blessed are we to have people risk their lives everyday so that we can enjoy our freedom?
I can lead a normal life and not have every aspect of my life controlled. And we owe it all to the service men and women of our country.

I am grateful for the country that I live in. And I am grateful for those who are so willing to protect this great country. And I am grateful for those who have sacrified their lives so that I can live mine.

So, to all those serving in the Armed Forces,
Thank You.
I don't think we can say it enough. Your service means the world to me.

Hi Jami, I was just reading a comment you made on Merri's facebook wall about wanting to get to know some "down to earth girls" in SV. I know that you know my sister Mary Anne but do you know our other sister, Amy? She lives with my parents in SV while her hubby is in Iraq and has a little boy that is about Kason's age. I know she goes to playgroups and such with other young moms (Allison Haymore..of course that her maiden name cuz that's how I know her :), Lacy Mayberry) in the stake. You should get together with them, if you don't already.
