Mi Casa!

After 9 months of living in this house I FINALLY feel like we are getting settled in.
Right after we moved in Kameron got sick so our life kind of got overtaken by that.
Then with Kameron being home I just didn't take time to finish getting everything put together, I just focused on us spending time together.

Well, when TipJunkie did her Top 10 Favorite Things in my House I figured it was a perfect way to
#1)clean up my house so I could take the pictures
#2)get a few last things up
#3)show off my house

So here it is! My Talk to me Tuesday!
The Top 10 Fav Things about MI CASA!

Photobucket

1. The Front

Photobucket

I just think it's so cute! And we actually have grass. I love it.

2. My Living Room

Photobucket

I love how everything goes together.

I love these shelves:

Photobucket

And, our tv stand (that I totally refurbished ... it still needs some work) ... I'm working on something more for above the tv. And that lamp ... I got it for 50% off - isn't that awesome?

Photobucket

3. My Kitchen Table

Photobucket

My mom bought this for us when we got married and I love it.

4. My Piano

Photobucket

What would I do without my piano?! We got an great deal on it about a year after we were married and I've been so happy with it ever since!

5. This clock

Photobucket

I made it. We did it for a Super Saturday Craft in Enrichment. I love it.

6. Kason's Room

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Despite the abnormal amount of dirty clothes that come out of this room, I love it. I think it turned out really cute. I just need to find a big letter 'K' for that shelf ... anybody know where I can find one??

7. My Kitchen

Photobucket

I love my cabinets. I love that there is a dishwasher. I love the sink. I love having the microwave over the oven (i never thought I would like this!). I love how much storage there is. I love it!

8. This shelf

Photobucket

I actually just put it up. It's in our bedroom over our bed. Don't worry, it's not completely finished. The other things I'm going to put up there are in the mail.

9. My Kitchenaid

Photobucket

My wonderful kitchenaid. I made homemade bread, for the first time Tuesday (aren't you proud of me?!), and this made it SOOO much easier. I get excited everytime I get to use it.

10. My Grandma's things

Photobucket

Photobucket

My Grandma Young died when I was a Senior in High School and I miss her everyday.
But, thankfully a few of her things were passed down to me and cherish them so much. I have a few other things that belonged to hers (her microwave, iron, couch, glass cups etc.)
But these two things really remind me of her.
She loved birds. She collected these little figures and had so many of them.
And the Baath sign hung in her guest bathroom and all the times we stayed with her I remember always loving that sign.

So, there you have it!
Our humble little abode.
I love it. It's so comfortable and homey.

Let's Talk Politics!

I can hear the grumbles already.
I KNOW politics is not a topic lots of people care to get very involved with.
Usually if you enjoy politics you're very opinionated about your stand.
I used to not care.
I used to just vote for what Kameron or my mom voted for.

But, as I've grown older and learned more and more about the government and how it's run, I've realized how important it is for me to be informed about each candidate, what they stand for, what they promise and their values.

So, read with me if you want, comment if you wish ...

This next comment may lose me some friends, but it's worth it.

I am a very conservative Republican.
I don't, and won't, ever cross the line to the Democratic side.
I don't understand how people can stand for the things that Democrats stand for.

Let me give you some examples. These following things are just some of the things that Barrack Obama stands for and supports ...

· He voted for partial birth abortion.
· He voted no on notifying parents of minors who get out-of-state abortions.
· Supports affirmative action in Colleges and Government (quotas)..
· In 2001 he questioned harsh penalties for drug dealing as being too severe.
· Says he will deal with street level drug dealing as minimum wage affair.
· Admitted his use of marijuana and cocaine in high school and in college.
· His religious convictions are very murky.
· He is willing to meet with Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, Kim Jung Il and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
· Has said that one of his first goals after being elected would be to have a conference with all Muslim Nations
· Opposed the Patriot Act.
· First bill he signed that was ever passed was campaign finance reform.
· Voted to allow law suits against gun manufacturers.
· Supports universal health-care.
· Voted yes on providing habeas corpus for Guantanamo detainees.
· Supports granting driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants.
· Supports extending welfare to illegal immigrants.
· Voted yes on comprehensive immigration reform.
· Voted yes on allowing illegal aliens to participate in Social Security.
· Wants to make the minimum wage a ’living wage’.
· Voted with Democratic Party 96 percent of 251 votes. (241 votes Demo, 10 votes Republican)
· Is a big believer in the separation of church and state.
· Opposed to any efforts to Privatize Social Security and instead supports increasing the amount of tax paid into Soc. Sec. [Tax Increase.]
· He voted No on repealing the Alternative Minimum Tax which now hits middle income brackets.
· He voted No on repealing the ’Death’ Tax. [Tax Increase.]
· He wants to raise the Capital Gains Tax. [Tax Increase.]
· Has repeatedly said the surge in Iraq has not succeeded...which is not true.
· He is ranked as the most liberal Senator in the Senate today and that takes some doing.

I'll admit, I don't understand some of things and I can't guarantee the honestly of all of it but, there are a few that outrage me regardless.

1st thing ...

Partial Birth Abortion.
Some may choose to skip over this, I encourage you to read it if you can handle it, I want to let you know what Partial Birth Abortion is. Remember, Obama supports this:

When the partial birth abortion procedure is done, the baby is born at 20-23 weeks. Keep in mind, parents usually find out what the sex of their baby is around 20 weeks. This means when this procedure is done they know wether it will be a boy or a girl. Hmmm. After the baby is born, they inject him or her with a chemical that will slowly kill them. Then, do you think the birth-mom holds him? What about the doctors? Nurses? No ... nobody holds this poor, premature, chemically injected child. They take this brand new baby, who is fighting for their life, and drop them off in the dirty linen closet and wait for them to die before taking them to the morgue. It can take anywhere from minutes to hours. Is this something you want to be going on in our country?? It will if Obama is elected into office.

2nd thing ...

Obama's stand on drug charges
Is it just me, or do the drug problems in this country seem to be at an ultimate high? I'm constantly seeing commercials re: meth, marijuana, cocaine, and even perscription drugs on television. Or the billboards all over our highways with pictures of meth users? It's obvious that something needs to be done about how readily available drugs are to anyone who wants them.

How can we control this problem when the Democratic nominee for President wants to decrease the punishments that are given to those dealing illegal drugs on the streets? Or possibly just pushing these problems aside? How is that going to help this national problem of teenage illegal drug use?

3rd thing ...

Illegal Immigrants.
Maybe this only worries me because I live in Arizona and I see the immediate affects of having illegal immigrants in our country. I do want to put out there that, I have NO problem with people from other countries coming into our country the LEGAL way, it's those who do it illegally that I have a hard time being okay with.

Let me tell you an experience I had with illegal immigrants. A few weeks ago, we were in Mesa and we had gotten a hotel room just down the road from the Mesa Temple. Those of you who have ever been to this temple know that it's not the nicest part of town but, there are residential areas surrounding it. Elderly couples, young children & full grown families are sure to live in those homes.
As we were leaving to come home we drove past some of these communities and standing on every corner were 3-5 (sometimes more) illegal Mexican immigrants waiting to be picked up for a job that day. In fact, we saw one guy pick up 2 of them. This got me thinking, if these illegals are standing on these corners, those same corners where young children play, that means somewhere nearby is a drop house, a house full of people who are by no means safe. I for one would NOT want my family to live in a neighborhood filled with these type of people. Seeing this actually scared me. It made me wonder if democrats are oblivious to these problems. How can they not be concerned about these people coming into our country?!

Further more, how can Obama support giving these same people drivers licenses?! Welfare?! Social Security?! Our tax dollars going to support people who aren't even US citizens?? Gee, something about that just doesn't seem right to me! Maybe we need to bring Obama to AZ and let him spend the night in a neighborhood with drop houses and coyotes, think that will open his eyes?? I don't send my husband off to work everyday to work 8-12 hour days just so that ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS can live comfortably in our country.

I encourage each and every one of you to get imformed about what each candidate stands for. I am a huge fan of Sarah Palin, but that's a whole other post for a late time.

Get out there, listen to the speeches, read up on the values of each person, and educate yourself about the person you want to run our country.

Oh, one more thing that drives me crazy, those people that don't vote and then complain about how this country is being run. So...

Go!
Educate!
and most importantly ....

VOTE!

Our BIG News!

Alright, Gila Valley-ites ...

You know this place?
Photobucket

They make the YUMMIEST tortillas!
They have a little factory in downtown Safford.
They just hired a new GENERAL MANAGER.
And, you're lookin' at him!

Photobucket

That's right!!
We're SO excited about this.
It is a GREAT opportunity for our family.

We're a little bummed about not moving to Mesa/Gilbert because we had gotten really excited about it.
But, we know now that this is where we are supposed to be.

This is such a huge blessing for our family.
We're VERY grateful for this job that came along.

The Lord really does bless us after the storm passes.

I would never have imagined that this kind of opportunity would be given to us.

So, we are staying in little old Thatcher, and I couldn't be more excited.

And I am so proud of Kameron for being so willing to take this job, which is by no means going to be easy or stress free. But, it will provide a good living for his family. He's so selfless when it comes to us! And for that I'm VERY grateful!

The only downer to all of this, Kameron starts work on Tuesday and I don't know what I'm going to do without him home all day!
I've gotten so used to him being home with us since MARCH!

I'm sure this little rugrat will keep me plenty busy though!

Photobucket
*he wanted to get in on the picture taking fun - but got distracted by the football on tv ... he really is Kameron's son!!*

Kason is going to miss Kameron SO much!
He has LOVED having him home all the time.

I am grateful that we were able to spend so much time together before he started work again ... that was REALLY nice!

Sorry all you Mesa/Gilbert/Chandler peeps ... we'll just have to make more trips down there.
And thanks to everyone who said prayers in our behalf these past 6 1/2 months! We wouldn't have gotten here without you!

I guess now you can call us the Tortilla Familia!
(my only worry is that we're all going to get FAT!)

See this boy, Kason?

Photobucket

And this mom?

Photobucket

Well, Kason loves this:

Photobucket

And, Mom is okay with it. In fact, Mom lets Kason have as much of this as he wants because he gets a full serving of fruits AND vegetables with every serving!

Kason also loves this:

Photobucket

Mom's okay with this too. You know why? Becuase after exploring this website together this morning, Kason already knows how to say, "A-B-C" and he can recognize the letter "a". Pretty good huh? Check it out. It's a mom's favorite website.

You know what else Kason loves?
This:

Photobucket

And guess what? Mom loves it, too. You know why? Because it gives Mom 30 minutes to cook dinner, take a shower, clean the house or maybe even just surf the web. It's a wonderful little parenting tool.

Mom sure loves her boy!

Photobucket

In fact, Mom loves both of her boys.

Photobucket

I have a good reason to be proud of my one boy, Kameron.
Maybe I'll post about it soon. Tomorrow. Friday.

Soon.

I Promise.
